Purpose and objectives

The project aims to develop and verify a new system for centralized greywater treatment and heat recovery that reduces drinking water and energy consumption in apartment buildings and new construction. The goal is to develop a technically robust, economically viable and scalable solution and to demonstrate the function and benefits in a pilot environment and prepare for broad national and international introduction.

Expected impacts and results

The project is expected to result in a verified technical solution for centralized greywater treatment and heat recovery, including digital monitoring and operational concepts. The effects are reduced drinking water and energy use, lower operating costs, increased resilience in buildings and prepared scaling nationally and internationally. The project contributes directly to the mission of Water Wise Societies by enabling sustainable water withdrawals, reduced water use and recirculation of resources in existing housing stock.

Planned approach and implementation

The project is implemented in six work packages with clear deliverables: project management, system development, pilot installation, business modeling, policy work and dissemination. The work is iterative with requirements definition, prototype testing, data collection and validation in a pilot property. The parties work closely together through a steering committee, reference group and regular meetings to ensure quality and scalability.
