Our mission

Sustainable water for all by 2050. We work to ensure that water is available in the right quantity and quality, creating favorable conditions for people, the environment, ecosystems, and industries – even in a changing climate.

The program is led by RISE in collaboration with IVL Swedish Environmental Research Institute, Linköping Science Park, Lund University, Stockholm Environment Institute, and Svenskt Vatten. We bring together stakeholders from the public and private sectors, academia, research institutes, and non-profit organizations to collectively drive the systemic transformation needed.

Water Wise Societies is one of five Impact Innovation programs – a national initiative by Vinnova, Formas, and the Swedish Energy Agency.

What do we mean by sustainable water for all?

Our mission consists of three objectives:

How does the program work?

Water Wise Societies is leading the transition toward sustainable water for all. We fund initiatives in research, innovation, policy development, capacity building, and internationalization. Through calls for proposals, we will allocate approximately 100 million SEK per year to water-related initiatives that drive this transformation.
