\nImportant results from the project<\/h2>\n
The project met all its goals, including hosting an open workshop where 40 participants engaged with the co-creation processes. Active discussions informed the development of four future visions and proposals for further work. A key driver in the success of the project was the ability of each partner to draw on their own networks to broaden discussions on a topic all partners are currently working with from different perspectives.<\/p>\n
Expected long-term effects<\/h2>\n
Following further interdisciplinary co-creation processes which embrace multiple disciplines and sectors, the results have the potential to facilitate exploitation of a locally derived resource (stormwater) by industry, municipalities and local communities. This shift in stormwater perception \u2013 from risk to resource \u2013 could lead to unlocking of a new water resource, materials (fill and metals), heat and power, with the concept of interest nationally and internationally.<\/p>\n
Approach and implementation<\/h2>\n
Stakeholder-driven innovation underpinned all activities, including establishment of a steering board, internal work (e.g. a research group from six disciplines) and intra-organisational work (e.g. municipalities met internally to discuss with others). A key event was a one day co-creation workshop, where 40 participants worked in small groups to map out possible futures. These futures were traced back to today to identify the system transformations necessary to enable changes to be delivered.<\/p>\n
