Purpose and objectives<\/h3>\n

The aim of the project is to develop and test different incentive structures and to develop and test forms for user-driven innovation in rain delay in built-up areas. The project <\/span>integrates perspectives from property owners, insurance companies and municipalities. The project results <\/span>in a <\/span>concept-tested area-based model to support innovation in rainwater retention in the built-up city.<\/p>\n

Expected impacts and results<\/h3>\n

For Swedish municipalities, the model offers a way to coordinate measures at subcatchment level in the city. For property owners, the project creates a basis for when, where and how it is economically and practically justified to take delaying measures. The model has a very broad potential application and is part of fulfilling the Water Wise Society’s sub-goal “Resilient supply and management of water in society” and the missions “Adapting society to floods and droughts” and “Building and managing society in harmony with water”. <\/p>\n

Planned approach and implementation<\/h3>\n

The project is implemented in four work packages covering governance, development and testing. IVL, municipalities and insurance companies are developing and testing policy instruments and incentives, while producing area-based sustainability documents. These are used in climate adaptation dialogues in Malm\u00f6, Trelleborg and Stockholm, where the municipality and property owners identify measures and voluntary agreements. Malm\u00f6 University monitors the process, evaluates the effects and supports scaling up. <\/p>\n
