Purpose and objectives<\/h3>\n

The project contributes to securing long-term supply and quality of raw water under climate and land use changes in southern Sweden, and especially Region Halland including the main water source Bolmen. Our vision is to realize the great potential of wetland restoration as a nature-based solution (NbS) – a potential that is underutilized due to lack of evidence on context-specific benefits and risks. <\/p>\n

Expected impacts and results<\/h3>\n

The project contributes to the mission by developing context-specific solution pathways and decision support, for use directly in government planning, prioritization and decision-making processes. The project is thereby expected to create new cost-effective NbS for future-proofing raw water, and at the same time generate societal benefits on several levels (food production, flow buffering, biodiversity, recreation). <\/p>\n

Planned approach and implementation<\/h3>\n

The value creation of project wetlands is mapped with a focus on costs, benefits, risks and incentives for establishment and long-term maintenance. Knowledge co-production will take place with actors throughout southern Sweden, including Sydvatten’s owner municipalities in Sk\u00e5ne, financial actors, landowners, Hush\u00e5llningss\u00e4llskapet Halland’s sister organizations and wetland coordinators. <\/p>\n
