Important results from the project
The foresight work in the project revealed a strong desire among stakeholders to act now to enable more resource-efficient systems. This involves technology, processes, acceptance, policy, infrastructure, and funding. Future water and wastewater systems will focus more on resource recovery, requiring solutions for both existing systems and new developments.
Expected long-term effects
By building actor networks and fostering positive dialogue, doors open for future development where nutrients from wastewater are reused. The project’s results will be carried forward through the existing “Swedish Nutrient Platform” network and will also support an application for a transition lab within Water Wise Societies.
Approach and implementation
The project focused on foresight and system analysis. A digital workshop explored stakeholders and the current state. A physical workshop followed, focusing on trends, the future, vision, and roadmap. 40 participants joined, including 5 group leaders ensuring inclusive and focused discussions. A final digital workshop refined the roadmap. A report was produced and was open for input during the revision phase.
