Purpose and objectives

During the war in Ukraine, water resources and water infrastructure have been direct targets of the conflict and access to water has been used as a strategic weapon with major consequences. This project focuses on the challenges of water management in crisis and disaster. The project initially addresses the area of fire water / extinguishing water where we can make cross-organizational efforts and at the same time build an extended network of actors for a more robust water management.

Expected impacts and results

The project participants will jointly formulate clear visions of how water management will work in future crises and disasters. The focus is on the area utilized as system acupuncture fire water and extinguishing water. The envisaged future scenarios are analyzed based on the types of shifts that must be implemented for more robust water management. In parallel, the group of stakeholders with control over the transfer areas is determined and will also be invited to the next project stage.

Planned approach and implementation

The Project Manager has overall responsibility for driving the project forward and is responsible for ensuring that the work packages deliver as planned. An extended circle of actors from key stakeholders and project participating organizations will be included in the work. The group will contribute to the strategic direction of the project and help to expand the stakeholder base for the next phase. People also from the outer circle will be invited to the workshop activities of the project.
