Purpose and objectives

The aim of VASK is to lay the foundation for the development of a dynamic system model that can serve as decision support when implementing the Regional Plan in Region Skåne. The model will aim to guide the management of land and water resources at the inter-municipal level by communicating an integrated system perspective that clarifies socio-ecological as well as socio-economic causalities and consequences that growth-driven change in land and water use can cause.

Expected impacts and results

The project is expected to generate increased understanding of user needs and insights into how a system dynamics model should be designed to become a useful tool for decision support in inter-municipal management. The foresight scenarios and system maps developed for the challenges of the Regional Plan are expected to contribute to increased foresight and system understanding among broad stakeholder groups about what is required to ensure long-term sustainable management and utilization of land and water resources in Skåne.

Planned approach and implementation

The project starts with a stakeholder mapping to capture actors with influence, interest and potential impact on three selected challenge areas in the Regional Plan. Selected stakeholders will be invited to a series of workshops, where we use foresight techniques to develop both possible and probable future scenarios linked to the challenges, and through group modeling develop system maps that clarify drivers, impact logics and interactions between them, as well as links to WW’s goals.
