Call for proposals: Impact Innovation: Collaboration for Sustainable Water for All within the Water Wise Societies 2024 program

Contact person: Sabine Mayer

Purpose and objectives

The aim of the project is to analyze and develop proposals for continuation projects linked to the societal challenge of utilizing urban stormwater as a resource. Urban stormwater includes the stormwater itself, energy potential, but also the sediment that accumulates in the urban drainage network and how it can be managed and used as a resource in a safe way. Objectives: – To make a system analysis of stormwater as a resource in broad collaboration – Graphically illustrate the desired future state – Suggestions for next steps.

Expected impacts and results

The results of the project are proposals for continuation projects that help society to utilize urban stormwater as a resource. This includes the stormwater itself, energy potential, but also the sediment that accumulates in the urban drainage network and how it can be managed and used as a resource in a safe way. The impact of the continuation projects will be that stormwater can contribute to both sustainable innovative solutions that strengthen community resilience and more sustainable urban environments.

Planned approach and implementation

The project will conduct a series of open workshops to develop a vision, carry out system analysis and forecast future scenarios with the aim of proposing activities necessary to bring about system change and new innovative solutions.
