Call: Impact Innovation: Collaboration for Sustainable water for all – a Water Wise Societies programme intervention 2024

Contact: Lars Hamberg

Purpose and goal

Aim: Explore the transformation within industrial water use to contribute to sustainable water in 2050. Industries must, in cooperation with other social actors, reduce environmental impact, ensure water availability, improve process performance and reduce costs. Objective: – Engage more key players – Define future water use scenarios – Produce prioritized movements – Identify next steps within WWS.

Expected effects and result

We explore how industry´s water use can contribute to WWS´s mission. The project contributes to global competitiveness by supporting Swedish industry to increased resource efficiency, sustainable transition and increased resilience. As direct results from the project, the challenge of the industry´s sustainable water use will be described, key actors identified and future scenarios, prioritized system movements and proposals for efforts in the next steps of WWS are produced.

Planned approach and implementation

The project is led by RISE with active partners in all 5 work packages: AP1: Mapping key actors and international initiatives. AP2: Use foresight methodology to explore future scenarios, with a focus on industry and municipal conditions. AP3: Analyze system changes to improve industrial water use in interaction with municipal VA. AP4: Define actions for the next step. AP5: Coordinate activities, report to funder, participate in dialogues and disseminate insights.
