Call for proposals: Impact Innovation: Collaboration for Sustainable Water for All within the Water Wise Societies 2024 program

Purpose and objectives

The project aims to bring together stakeholders around the challenge of recycling substances in wastewater systems, especially plant nutrients. Since the recovery of both energy and water resources from wastewater is strongly linked to plant nutrient recovery, these issues are also addressed in collaboration with other stakeholder groups. The aim is to find a common language and vision for the challenges of increased resource recovery. Through GAP analysis also point out ways to achieve the desired future.

Expected impacts and results

Expected results are to be able to describe at the end of the project what movements are needed in the near future for the vision of resource-recycling wastewater systems to be realized. This may involve test and demo projects, system demonstrators, policy labs, infrastructure, etc. Long-term effects are that the water and wastewater sector, through circular wastewater management, contributes to the project to several of the Water Wise Society’s goals and to a sustainable circular transition.

Planned approach and implementation

The project will be implemented through foresight work, where the first work package is based on the current system and situation. What are the challenges and barriers, and what good examples and experiences exist nationally and internationally? Work package 2 uses systems analysis to develop a shared vision, taking into account the complexity of the issue. In work package 3, we use backcasting and identify the steps, actors and solutions needed to achieve the shared vision.
