Purpose and objectives

To further develop, refine and apply an inclusive collaborative model, called Learning and Innovation Lab, for long-term sustainable and climate-resilient water management during floods and droughts in the Motala stream.

Expected impacts and results

ShareWater Lab is expected to lead to the following outcomes and impacts, with expected benefits both within and beyond the project, thereby contributing to the sub-goal “Resilient supply and management of water in society” within Water Wise Societies. These outcomes and impacts are

  • A common understanding and acceptance of what fair water management means in practice, which can promote behavioral change over time.
  • A scalable model for how collaboration on water can be organized locally.
  • Better conditions for implementing climate adaptation measures with broad support.
  • Increased capacity and learning among participating actors, especially in small municipalities.
  • Communication of lessons learned to other river basins and the scientific community.

Planned approach and implementation

The implementation of the project is organized in three overall work packages including planning, implementation of field labs and online workshops, and dissemination and utilization. The lab conducted within the project builds on results from previous labs within FairWater but allows for deepening and further development of results. Not least when it comes to putting results in a broader context with the entire river basin in focus.
